Darlene grew up in Virden with her parents Ross and Ethel and her sisters, Mary and Judy and brother Ross Jr.
Darlene loved and excelled at figure skating and attended many competitions. She was a skating sensation! Her love of sport and competition was passed on to her children. Darlene had a great love of reading, joined book clubs and spent many hours engrossed in the latest hot novel. Darlene also loved music, especially Jazz with the living room often becoming a dance floor.
After completing school, Darlene married her high school sweetheart, Marshall (Dewey) in 1957. Deborah, Patrick, and Timothy were all born in quick succession. Life was busy. The family moved from Virden to Weyburn and then on to Calgary where Darcy was born.
Darlene enjoyed her friends, family and home. After Dewey passed away in 1991, Darlene moved to Airdrie where she enjoyed the quieter town. She had great neighbors who became her best friends.
Darlene has spent the last five years at Scenic Acres Retirement Residence. She gained more friends, she loved the staff and was heard saying “I love you” regularly.
Darlene leaves behind her daughter, Deborah (Jeff) Scott of Kelowna, granddaughter Jennifer (Craig), great grandson Gavin; granddaughter Breanna (Cory), great grandchildren Piper and Tobin; her son Patrick (Marg) of Airdrie, granddaughter Deanna (Josh), great grandchildren Luca, Emma and grandson David; son Timothy (Gina) of Calgary, grandson Andrew (Valerie), granddaughter Shawna (Finn); son Darcy (Connie) of Grande Prairie, granddaughters Madison (Cale), Kassidy, Teaghan and grandson Colten.
Mom is at peace resting with her parents and her beloved Dewey. She is loved and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Mom, we can never say goodbye to you,
Because we could never bear the pain.
Instead we say we love you, Mom;
Until we meet again.
