Colleen was born on January 24, 1960 in Calgary, daughter of William (Bill) and Eunice (Dunny) Hanna. Colleen was smart and her life’s work reflected this capacity which evolved from life guard in small town Alberta as a teenager, to farm wife in SE Saskatchewan, to Customs border official to Manager of Trade for Canada Customs, and finally the calling of her heart, Financial Planner with clients in Alberta, and Ontario. She cared deeply about financial integrity and served families by helping them ensure a prosperous financial future as a foundation upon which to build their lives. Colleen provided a loving home to many rescue cats throughout her life. She was a contributing member of the Gay Community in Calgary throughout most of her life, and deeply loved her long time partners.
Colleen is survived by her sister Maggie Hanna (husband Kim Roman), her nephew Scott Roman (wife Sara Hill) and their infant daughter, Colleen’s grandniece, Rhea Roman. Colleen was predeceased by her younger brother James Hanna (Jim). Colleen is also well remembered by many relatives on both the Hanna and Robertson sides of the family across Western Canada.
The family wishes to thank the circle of people who assisted and supported Colleen in a very meaningful way through the last years of her life; especially Michelle Kilty, and Jessica Admiraal.
A Celebration of Colleen's Life will be held at Christ Church Calgary at a later date.
