Cindy was born in Calgary, Alberta on March 29, 1961 to Doug and Claire McNeil. Cindy went to school in Calgary, graduating from Crescent Heights High School. After graduating high school, she had a career at the Alberta Treasury Branch. In 1979 Cindy married the love of her life Gord who affectionately referred to her as his Lou Who. Shortly after, she began her second career as a loving mother to her beautiful children, Tyler and Paige. They had many adventures going to Osoyoos, Mara Lake, many cruises, camping, Palm Springs and during the last few years had a beautiful place at Sundre River Resort which was Cindy’s happy place.
In her spare time, she enjoyed crosswords, reading, knitting, creating diamond paintings, going for walks and playing on her iPad. Most of all she loved spending time with her beloved dog Sadie who comforted her and was by her side at all times.
Cindy made many lifelong friends from her time working at ATB, being involved with her children’s activities and her time at Sundre River Resort. She touched many lives with her kind heart and giving soul, which also continued toward the end of her journey with the staff and patients at Age Care Skypointe.
After her courageous fight with PSP (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy) Cindy continued her fight by donating her brain to the research and understanding of this rare and progressive disease. Her wish was to help others who may suffer from this terrible disease.
Cindy is lovingly remembered by her husband of 44 years Gord; her children Tyler (Ashley) and Paige (Chris); her grandchildren Parker and Hunter; her sister Pat (Hugh) Chalmers, niece Andrea, sisters in law Corinne and Charlene (Alain) and families.
Cindy was predeceased by her parents Doug and Claire McNeil and her nephew Greg Chalmers.
We would like to send our sincerest thanks to the ACT (Advanced Care Team) at the University of Calgary who made her last year more comfortable and provided so much support to our family at a very difficult time.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Cindy’s name to www.pspsocietycanada.ca
