Passed away peacefully at Calgary Foothills Medical Centre on April 11, 2012 at the age of 74 years. Christel was born on June 20, 1937 in Berlin, Germany and immigrated to Canada in 1954. Residing in Brooks, Alberta initially, Christel then came to Calgary for 25 years enjoying being a mother and working for many years as a care aide. In her retirement she resided in Creston, BC. Christel is survived by her son Bruce Bonkowsky and daughters, Beverly Kelly and Barbara Bonkowsky. Her grandchildren Lindsay Wijesooriya (Gam), Katelyn Bonkowsky (Steven), Cody Bonkowsky, Brandon Kelly (Allyson), Matthew Kelly (Courtney), Cassidy Kelly (Thomas), David Frey and great grandchildren Enzo Wijesooriya and Kasha and Emma Kelly. She was predeceased by a son, parents, sister, brother-in-law and daughter in law.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at SOUTH CALGARY FUNERAL CENTRE, 12700 Macleod Trail South, (at Lake Fraser Gate) Calgary on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 11:00 a.m.
