Charles Charlie John Fink

Charles John Fink passed away of a heart attack while enjoying a walk with his wife and dog on January 9, 2011 at the age of 53 years. Charlie will be lovingly remembered by his wife Kathryn McFarlane; mother Elizabeth Fink and brother Jerry Fink, both of Montreal, three step-children, Tara Lee and her children Shae Lee and Ella Bufton of Pemberton, BC, Ryan Lee of Calgary and Kerry and her husband Jon Turner of Warfield, BC. Charlie will be sadly missed by his favourite dog Indy. Charlie is also survived by a large extended family of cherished aunts, uncles and cousins and many close and dear friends as well as his previous wife Diane and her family. He was predeceased by his father Jack and his sister Marlene.

Charlie was born in Windsor and raised in Laval, Quebec. He spent time with family at their cottage on Lac Gagnon where he had many fond memories. In 1994 he moved west to Vancouver and for the past 14 years while in Calgary he has enjoyed hiking and skiing in the Rockies. In 1994 he started a business called Infinity Instruments. He sold and serviced environmental scientific laboratory equipment. It connected him to his great passion for the environment. Recently with Kathryn, he enjoyed many adventures such as whale watching in Maui. Charlie was happiest while walking his dog in the forest.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at a visitation at SOUTH CALGARY FUNERAL CENTRE, 12700 Macleod Trail South, Calgary on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. There will be a reception at 2 Cougar Ridge View SW on Sunday, January 23, 2011 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. A Celebration of Charlie’s Life will follow in the spring in Montreal.

In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, memorial donations may be made directly to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta (#100, 119 – 14 Street NW, Calgary, AB T2N 1Z6) or to the Salvation Army (1731 – 29 Street SW, Calgary, AB T3C 1M6).
