Brian Edwin Wayne Smith

Brian Smith passed away on January 27, 2017 at the South Health Campus with Mary Ann, his beloved wife of more than 60 years and his daughter Alane by his side. Born April 1, 1931 at the Calgary General Hospital, Brian attended Stanley Jones and Crescent Heights High School. He was employed as a Production Accountant in the oil industry until his retirement from Home Oil Limited in 1991. He held an Amateur Radio License, VE6HY, and was a founding member of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Production Accountants, a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 264, a Charter member of Glenbow Lodge #184, GRA, and a longtime volunteer with the Crescent Heights Community Association. He was a founding member of the Masonic Foundation of Alberta and was Secretary-Treasurer until 2006. Brian was predeceased by his mother Florence in 1937, his father William James in 1980, his step mother Margaret in 1984, and step brothers Dave Carle in 2003 and Don Carle in 2007. He is survived by his wife Mary Ann and daughter Alane. Thanks to all the Doctors, Nurses, EMS and all of our family and friends for their support. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday February 1, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery).
