Bev was born in Winnipeg and passed her childhood on the family homestead farm. She was an active child and spent her days getting into shenanigans, tales of which she regaled her own children with years later. At Westwood Collegiate high school, she excelled at academics and played point guard on the women’s basketball team.
Not liking the sensation of grass growing under her feet, Bev moved to Calgary in her early adulthood where she worked as an Executive Assistant for the City of Calgary. There she met Terry and they had three children - Taryn, Shaylyn, and Brenden. She was a dedicated mother to her kids and they were always her top priority, even when she returned to school at the age of 40 to pursue a teaching career. As a teacher, she satisfied her taste for adventure by participating in two career exchanges with teachers from Australia and lived in Sydney and Brisbane, each for a year respectively. In Australia, she valiantly cured herself of a lifelong fear of spiders, a demonstration of her refusal to let anything stop her.
In her 60s, Bev retired from teaching and became a fervent world traveller. Although she would often travel with her husband, Peter, she would also go on trips with her women’s group. She went to Guatemala, Portugal, Spain, and Africa, just to name a few. She also drove all of the way across Canada. Bev had many adventures planned at the time of her death. Although it is sad that she will not be able to take these trips, she would want everyone to know that she lived life to its fullest while she was with us. Bev is survived by her husband and her children and many, many, many friends and family who will miss her every day.
