August 24, 1930 - November 12, 2011
Audrey passed away at the Rosedale Hospice on November 12, 2011, in her 82nd year, of complications from cancer. She was born in Calgary in August 1930, the only child of Harold and Mabel Summers. Audrey is survived and loved by Alfred Lemke, her husband of fifty-eight years and her sons Brian Lemke (Marianne) and Cliff Lemke (Debbie) of Calgary. She was the beloved Nana of Kevin, Carolyn and Nicholas Lemke; sister-in-law, aunt and dear friend. She was predeceased by her parents. We remember Audrey as fiercely devoted to and proud of her family, Calgary and Alberta, roughly in that order. We remember her feisty personality, her quick wit, anger and laughter, her sharp pen scourging politicians of all ilk, her loyalty and love for her many lifelong friends. We remember her in countless times together on the farm, in Calgary, Red Deer and Edmonton and our many wonderful vacations on Vancouver Island. We remember her skill and passion for bridge - good cards, bad cards, no matter. We remember her peppermint pennies and chocolate cakes, especially the center cuts. We remember her as our lively and energetic Nana, always up for games or make believe. We remember her for a life full and well lived and her stubborn resolve facing her final illness. We will miss her. A Memorial Service was held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 - 4 Street N.W. in Calgary on Friday, November 18, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. If friends desire, memorial tributes may be made to Hospice Calgary, Alberta Children's Hospital or the charity of one’s choice. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via the website www.fostersgardenchapel.ca.
