Audrey was born in Minnedosa, Manitoba. She met the love of her life, Barry, while waterskiing with the Manitoba ski team. She was trick skiing and ski jumping while Barry drove the boat. She married Barry in 1959, they had two children, Douglas and Lana. The family moved to Calgary, Alberta in 1966. Audrey worked with Welcome Wagon, then with Carlton Cards for many years.
She spent much time doing activities with family and friends at the lake: boating, camping, biking and snowmobiling in the winter. She and Barry also became snowbirds for over 25 years in the Arizona area and made several lifelong friends. She had a bubbly personality and was very active. She made friends easily with everyone she met.
Audrey is survived by her son Douglas Donnelly (Doris), daughter Lana Donnelly, brothers Mervyn Sandstrom (Dianne) and Michael Sandstrom (Leslie). Audrey is also survived by her brother-in-law Don Donnelly and sister-in-law Donna Sandstrom; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband Barry Donnelly, her parents Grace and Eric Sandstrom (both from Manitoba) and her oldest brother Lawrence Sandstrom.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and the health care workers at Agecare Skypointe for all their services.
A Memorial Service will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at 2:00 p.m.
