Audrey was born on May 30, 1930 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and was the only child of Eric and Ida Holmlund. After graduating from high school, she and a friend moved to Calgary to seek the adventures of big city living. While working as a secretary, she met a colleague who would become her true soulmate. Audrey married Ken Cornfield on October 17, 1953 and they spent the next 41 years devoted to their children, grandchildren and to each other. After Ken’s passing, Audrey lived independently in the home that she and Ken recently built with the support of close friends and neighbours.
Audrey lived a full life with a variety of interests including Alberta history, big band music, travel, her dogs and grand-dogs. She was kind and generous, and would always put her family first, even before herself in exemplifying traditional family values.
Audrey is lovingly remembered by her children Beverly (Craig) Hansen of Airdrie, Alberta and Bob (Trisha) Cornfield of Surrey, BC; as well as her grandchildren Stephanie and Kristina Hansen, Ethan and Morgan Cornfield. She was predeceased by her dedicated husband, Ken Cornfield on November 11, 1994.
Special thanks to the Foothills Hospital ICU Dr. Jeff Shaw, emergency Dr. Harry Koonar, nurse Leona and charge nurse Kyle for their caring and compassion.
