He is loved and missed by his son, Marco, daughter-in-law, Angela, grandchildren; Riccardo and Stefania, and extended family and friends in Calgary, Montreal, Toronto, and Italy. Angelo was predeceased by his loving wife, Filomena.
Angelo came to Canada in 1955 from Prossedi, Italy, first arriving in Toronto. He worked in construction while establishing a new life in Canada. On a trip to Montreal, Angelo met the love of his life, Filomena. Angelo and Filomena were married in 1957 and built a beautiful life together in Montreal and had one son, Marco, who they adored. Angelo and Filomena were a dynamic duo. They loved to travel and go on adventures with their close friends and family. They traded telling lively stories and laughed heartily together as they did. They had a special language between them that no one else quite understood but you could tell by the way they looked at each other that they were something special. In 1999, Angelo and Filomena moved to Calgary to support Marco and his family. Angelo and Filomena were married for 61 years.
Angelo worked for Canadian Pacific Railway for over 30 years. In his free time, Angelo had a passion for nurturing his garden, growing exceptional fruits and vegetables to share with his family and friends. Angelo didn’t have hobbies, he had crafts. He loved horticulture, wine making, and meat curing. Ingenuity was at the heart of everything Angelo did. He had a particular knack for creative solutions. He was an inventor at heart.
Angelo had a hearty, humorous spirit. He was always ready with a funny story, cracking himself up the most as he told it. When Angelo laughed, you couldn’t help but laugh too. He always had a special way of making you smile. But nothing made Angelo smile more than the adoration he had for his grandchildren. He was supportive and generous, and when his grandchildren were happy, he was happy. Angelo exuded joy and happiness, and everywhere he went his sweet spirit made an impression. Even during difficult hospital visits and treatments, he smiled. Nurses and support staff would go out of their way to share with his family how lovely and sweet he was. Even through adversity, he had a happy heart.
We would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and support staffs at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre and South Health Campus. We would also like to acknowledge the care staff at Mayfair Care Centre who lovingly cared for Angelo on a daily basis. A special thank you goes to Dr. Savoie and her team.
