I am so sorry to learn of Andys passing almost a year later. Andy was so deserving of living a long life. He loved his family deeply, and treasured his outdoors. He was kind, and had huge caregiving ways full of surprises. Andy could be very jovial in many ways after you got to know him. He also liked to pull practical jokes every so often. For all of us that new Andy, yup his passion was photography. We spent a lot of time out in Mother Nature. He showed me many places I had never ventured to. Not sure why and how you slipped away Andy, but I'm sure you will continue to keep a watch out for those you continue to love teach and protect. Be at Peace my friend. I was truly saddened to hear of Andy's passing.  Even though it has been many years, I still remember him as a young boy, growing up in MacDiarmid and on Strathcona. My sister' Pam and Julia must be happy. They get to share how great heaven is with their nephew Andy. Metis and Bruce must be showing him around and riding that great white horse, that Metis loves so much. Baba must be introduced  him to his uncles Raisen and JamCan. They haven't seen him since he was a baby. Andy must be rejoicing in the glory they all show him. Yes heaven must be great. All his Great-Uncles and Great Aunties are showing him the way. I best remember Andy as a small boy in MacDiarmid and then as a teenager in Thunder Bay. He was serious and quiet; except when he was with his immediate family. I visited them one time in Thunder Bay. When I came in Cheese was washing clothes, all of a sudden she throws a pail of water at Andy, the war was on! Cheese, Malcolm and Andy were racing around the house throwing pails of water at each other, howling with laughing. 

Andy will be forever missed and loved. I hope the family's sorrow will be eased by the memories only they can share.

I met Andy briefly in the spring of 2015. We shared a passion for photography for such a short time but during that time, he showed me such a passion for the landscape of our great province. With great sadness, I learned today of Andy's passing. Such passion quietened much too soon. Thank you Andy for sharing your passion with me.

My dear friend Sandra and family, I'm deeply saddened by the loss that you and your family have encountered. I'm honoured and blessed to have known Andy. He was truly a blessing in my life and I will miss him. Andy used to love listening to Hank Snow back home. He really did travel everywhere taking world class photographs which showed love for the land. My nephew was a kind, honorable man who valued children and family. He also had a great sense of humor...once you got him going...I will miss you - as you go on this journey...Auntie Dolly

This is Claire's eulogy for her Uncle Andy
Good evening, I'm Claire Sutherland, Under Andys niece. My uncle was many things for a Son, Brother, Uncle and a Friend. He is a soul that will be mourned for a very long period of time. He was kind to all he crossed paths with and he died doing what he loved. He loved many things, including family, photography, fishing, hunting and all of us sitting in this room. He was a caring person and made sure everybody's needs were before his own. I wish I was older so I could have had more experiences with him. I would have liked to have gone fishing with him or something else that made us both happy. My uncle liked to travel different places...And everytime he left he brought me something back to cherish with generosity to Great lengths. Some (people) here only met him once and some saw him everyday...But we all knew him, the kind, generous, caring, wonderful man. Once I told him that I wanted to be an orthodontist and he wanted to pay for all of my school, I would have to go too and he was very passionate  me about most of the other things I wanted to do. Uncle Andy promised that if I learned his favorite guitar song he'd buy me a brand new $5000 dollar guitar. 
He was there for everything...my birthday, my sacrements...everything. When we were young...he build birdhouses so we could watch birds grow up. He brought us all camping supplies and helped us with everything...and he wanted us to succeed.
He taught me many skills, outdoorsmanship,drinking from a straw...And now he is a free spirit doing whatever he wants...and he wanted to do much more but his body wouldn't let him...
My favorite memory with him was when he took me to the archery range with the bow and arrows he also brought me. It was both of our first time shooting so we had to hit the target.
He was the best uncle a girl could have wished for and now he is climbing the stairway to heaven...

I wish you all the comforts in the world.  We walk in a circle so we'll see him again in another life.

my condolences to Cheese and family. I remember Andy when we were just kids. We played together alot and swam often at the Sutherland dock until he moved away  I remember being at one of Andy's birthday parties and Cheese forgot to tell us that she put money in the birthday cake. When we started eating the birthday cake we were biting on coins  I still have a scar on my head from when Andy and I were playing frisbee with a paint can lid. While we tossed the lid back and forth to one another my grandma called me. I turned my head to look at her just as Andy tossed the paint can lid toward me. I didn't see it coming. He yelled to get my attention. As I turned to look back at him the paint can lid struck me on the head and cut me.  Good old times, good old times.

I only met Andy a few times, one time was when I was carrying my big green BBQ Egg into my backyard, and Andy asked me "do you know what you bought?", and I guess I had bought the best smoker made, and he was quite impressed. I just wanted something big enough to discourage thieves! 
Andy was always about his guns and his BBQ, always in good spirits whenever I met him, and will be sorely missed by all I'm sure.

As a fridgie, I always remember the first rule of thermodynamics. "Energy can neither be created nor destroyed." Andy's energy will be with us always.

The world has lost a very kind heart and a gentle soul. I have many fond memories of Andy, like the biscuits and the birthday cakes he baked for me. Then there's the time in Mexico when I thought I had gotten a pair of earrings for half price only to find out later that he had paid the other half. I, along with many, will miss and remember Andy with fondness. My deepest condolences go out to the grieving family.
