She leaves behind her children Blair (Gail), Laurie (Peter) Hodgins, and Lorne (Kelly); eleven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Amanda was predeceased by her parents, husband Leslie, sister Helen, brother Arthur, daughter Susan Millis and son-in-law Glen Millis.
Amanda was born near Stettler to John and Elizabeth Saar in 1929. She told many stories of her happy childhood growing up on the family farm and being spoiled by her uncles. After graduating from high school in Stettler she attended Garbutt Business College in Calgary for secretarial training.
Les and Amanda were married in 1949, and they started married life in Nobleford where they welcomed their daughter Susan. Upon moving back to Calgary, the family was completed with the births of Blair, Laurie, and Lorne. Once her children were in school, she had a long career as a secretary at Henry Wisewood High School and Central Memorial High School.
Amanda and Les moved to Sylvan Lake in 1990 where she was an active member in the community. After Les passed away, she moved back to Calgary and enjoyed many years at Hawkwood Dreamview Village.
Amanda was passionate about playing bridge and was a member of many bridge clubs in her retirement. Family was very important to her; she always had room for more people around the dinner table and loved playing cards with her grandchildren.
