Amalia Rozalia Dayka, age 93, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 6, 2024. She was born June 4, 1931, in Jaszszentandras, Hungary to Emanuel and Terezia Redei. She married her love, Frank Dayka on June 20, 1953, who preceded her in death on January 22, 2013.
Amalia dedicated her life to creating a warm and nurturing home for her husband Frank and four children, Liz, Leslie, Frank and Dave. Amalia’s greatest joy came from spending time with her family and fostering a loving home. She loved hosting family and holidays dinners, which included preparing authentic Hungarian dishes for everyone to enjoy. Her love for nurturing things was also evident in her beautiful gardens that she tended to over the years.
Amalia is survived by her daughter Elizabeth Humphrey, and two sons and daughters-in-law, Frank and Dixie Dayka, Dave and Kirsten Dayka, grandchildren; Tracy, Richard, Cassandra, Tanner, Bryan, Ashley and Samantha, great-grandchildren; Carter, Nathan, Dylan, Amelia, Mason, Cayden, Chase and Melina. She is predeceased by her loving husband of fifty-nine years, Frank, her parents Emanuel and Terezia Redei; her eight siblings from Hungary; son Leslie Dayka; and son-in-law Glen Humphrey.
Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at a visitation held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary, Alberta (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Thursday, December 19, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
A Funeral Service will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, on Friday, December 20, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
