Alan will be remembered as a leader, creator, entrepreneur, husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend you could always count on.
Born in Sorel, Québec to Mona and Maurice Davies, Alan is survived by his siblings: Guy (Pat), Paula, Gerald, Léda Cameron(John) and Maurice (Judy), and predeceased by his brother Michael (Margaret). In the early years, the young boy scout developed keen survival skills while navigating the outdoors.
As an early adult, Alan made his way west to Alberta, working for many years at CBC and in theatre as a scenic carpenter. He eventually returned to Lennoxville, QC to complete an honours degree in Psychology at Bishop's University and finally made Calgary his home along with former wife Scholastique and son Cyriaque. Over time, the unit grew to include Sébastien, Léda and Anna. The Davies’ wecomed Shauna through marriage to Cyriaque and Alan was a proud grandfather to their children Dannica and Abrielle.
In 2006 our protagonist fell in love and began living with Christine Clements. They married in 2013 and his family tree added branches for sons Jim (Tia and Verity) and Richard (Lyndl and Lewis).
Professionally, Alan worked with Citizenship and Immigration Canada from 1986-1996 before launching a private immigration consultancy. Top in its field, Alan’s company, Canadian Immigration Solutions helped many families and foreign workers establish themselves in Canada.
To say Alan will be missed by many is an understatement. Never afraid to strike up a conversation with a stranger, Alan nurtured countless long-term friendships. He was a man who loved to laugh, raise a glass and even dance on the occasional table.
Alan and his beloved Christine enjoyed traveling the world together with their dog Mazie. They explored multiple continents by boat, plane, and trailer. Back at home, you could often catch ‘Al’ enjoying a round of golf with friends or taking in the open road on his electric bicycle.
A Service will be held at Foster’s Garden Chapel, on Thursday, July 8, 2021 at 2:00pm. For the webcast click on “Funeral Webcasting Link for Service” in the donation section of the online obituary.
