Ah Chee Leong

February 21, 1940 - September 28, 2019

Ah Chee (Archie) Leong passed away peacefully with his family at his side on September 28, 2019 at the age of 79. Born in Raub, Malaysia, he spent his formative years studying engineering and commenced his mechanical engineer career working in Malaysia and throughout Europe. In 1988, he immigrated with his wife and children to Montreal, Quebec where he became a partner in a motor repair business. In 1997, he relocated to Calgary and continued working on machinery and later worked as an engineering consultant before he retired in 2007.

Ah Chee was never idle, spending his free time pursuing his many hobbies including golf, cooking, playing the Chinese mandolin and singing.

We rejoiced when Ah Chee accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord in 2016. Although Ah Chee may not be physically here with us, we are comforted in knowing that he is now at peace with his Lord.

Ah Chee is lovingly remembered and held in the hearts of his wife Kum Lan Grace Chan, daughter Rebecca (Dixon), daughter Mei (Rick) and son, James (Jennifer). Ah Chee will be deeply missed by his granddaughters Rachel, Hannah, Julia, Naomi and Giselle, and his surviving siblings, brother Ah Tak (Siew Lan), sister Sow Keen (John) and sister Kwan (Jose). He was predeceased by his brother Yip Sun (Choo), sister Sow Chan (Law), brother Ah Kin (Lucy) and brother Joel.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Wing Kei Greenview Supporting Living and Long Term Care for their kind, respectful and dignified care of Ah Chee. A Memorial Service will be held at Northeast Calgary Evangelical Free Church (3125 Catalina Blvd NE) on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. Arrangements are in the care of Foster's Garden Chapel Funeral Home & Crematorium (403) 297-0888.
