Adrienne Fair Lamb

December 13, 1925 - November 14, 2013

It is with sadness that the family of Adrienne Fair Lamb, of Calgary, announce her passing on November 14, 2013 after a brief illness. Adrienne was born in Coronation, Alberta, the only child of Jack and Gladys Short. She spent her teens in Wetaskiwin and trained as an RN at the Royal Alec in Edmonton. After graduation she had a great adventure traveling and working as a nurse in Ontario, Quebec and finally Vancouver where she met the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Lamb. They moved to Calgary in 1955, where Rob started an agency with Pemberton Insurance, then settled in Thorncliffe, where they spent the rest of their lives, raising their four children at the centre of a wonderful community of friends, family and neighbours. When the children were young, the family enjoyed many happy summers at the cabin at Sylvan Lake. Later Adrienne returned to nursing, first at the General Hospital and then in the office of Dr. Marion Robertson. Always the nurse, Adrienne will be remembered for her compassion for others, her loving soul and her ability to connect to people with her many acts of kindness. Always the small-town girl, she will be remembered for creating a sense of community wherever she went; for keeping in touch, her phone calls, her sense of humor and her upbeat perspective on life. Adrienne was redeceased by her beloved husband Rob Lamb and cherished daughter Margaret Simpson of Red Deer, Alberta. She is survived by her children Deborah (Jeff), John (Sue), Bruce (Pina), son-in-law Greg Simpson, and grandchildren Abbey Taekema (Colin), Melanie Hunchak (Alek), Michael, Jack, Margot, Scott, Garret, Taylor and Jamie. Adrienne would be the first to tell you she had a happy and fulfilling life. She enjoyed her Stitch and Bitch group and more recently her many friends at the Manor where she spent her final years. She asked that people join her family for an informal Celebration of her Life at the Manor, 6700 Hunterview Drive N.W. on Sunday, November 17, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
