Tom Wiersma, age 74, passed away on December 30, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents Simon and Janet Wiersma; stepmom, Edna Wiersma; siblings Ralph Wiersma, Steve Wiersma, and Bob Wiersma; grandson, Trey Bowman. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Wiersma; children Adam (CC) Wiersma, Kelly Wiersma, Kara (Shawn) Bowman, and Aimee (Justin) Dykstra; grandchildren Katelyn Bowman, Katelyn Bultsma, Alyssa Maxwell, Elijah Maxwell, Alexis Bowman, Sawyer Dykstra, Elsie Dykstra, and Remington Dykstra; great-grandchild, Traesyn; siblings Dave (Mary) Wiersma, Mary Beth Beute, Barb (Larry) Steketee; brother-in-law, Ken Van Hekken Jr.; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Tom was a dedicated and hardworking man who spent 30 years at General Motors, where he was known for his reliability and strong work ethic. Beyond his career, Tom was a beloved family man who gave the warmest hugs and shared his sharp sense of humor, always finding ways to bring laughter into the lives of those around him. His friends loved to be with him, drawn to his easygoing nature and quick wit. He was deeply supportive and generous, putting the needs of others before his own and offering unwavering encouragement to his loved ones. Tom's love for his family and friends was evident in everything he did, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and countless cherished memories.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Friday, January 3, 2025 at Cook Funeral Home in Byron Center, 2067 84th St. SW, Byron Center, Michigan. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, January 4, 2025 at the funeral home, with visitation from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
