Bob was a lifelong resident of Byron Center and member of the Byron Center Methodist Church. Bob and Jo were married March 3, 1950, spending 73 years together building a life that will always be remembered. His love for Jo and their family was both unconditional and unwavering.
He loved reading, history, and sports. Many memories were made while hunting in the Upper Peninsula with brothers, sons, and friends. Bob enjoyed a successful career as a fast pitch softball pitcher for Teamsters Union and Steelcase. His days on the mound included four state championships. He’s a member of the Byron Center Sports Hall of Fame for his stellar athletic achievements. He retired from Steelcase, after 33 years, to spend more time with family and friends, golfing and traveling. Bob’s thoughtful, calm, and steady approach to life will be remembered and deeply missed.
A Memorial Celebration of Bob’s Life will commence 11 a.m. Thursday July 20, 2023 with visitation one hour prior to the service at Byron Center United Methodist Church, 2490 Prescott St. SW, Byron Center, MI 49315.
