Robert (Bob) Thomas Diedrich, age 64, went to be with his Lord Sunday, April 3, 2022. Bob was preceded in death by his father, Louis Diedrich. He will be remembered and deeply missed by his mother, Louise Diedrich; children Jessica (Brian) Hamacher and Ashley (Tyler) Johnson; siblings Ann (Mark) Trusock, John (Pat) Diedrich, and David (Cindy) Diedrich; grandchildren Landon Johnson and Ryleigh Hamacher; lifelong friends Judd Hall and Jackie Hall; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Bob grew up in Escanaba, Michigan. He graduated from Western Michigan University with a BBA and Lake Superior State University with a BSA. After graduation, he spent most of his career in restaurant and retail management for several different companies. Bob was an enthusiastic sports fan - especially the Los Angeles Lakers and the Green Bay Packers. For as much as he loved his favorite sports teams, he loved his daughters and grandchildren even more. He loved playing cribbage - a family favorite - and was always the life of the party. Bob always had a fighting spirit; he survived a near fatal car crash in 1982 and fought his disease up until his final moments. He will forever be remembered as a loving son, brother, father, papa, and friend.
Visitation with friends and relatives will take place from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at Cook Funeral Home, 2067 84th St. SW, Byron Center, MI 49315. A celebration of Bob’s life will commence at 12 p.m. Thursday, April 21, 2022 with visitation one hour prior, starting at 11 a.m., at the funeral home. Fr. Chuck Fischer will be officiating. In honor of Bob and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Escanaba Scholarship Program - "The Louis Diedrich Teacher Education Scholarship" in memo section (https://www.eskymos.com/schools/jr-sr/scholarship). Internment will be at Dutton Cemetery. The family welcomes memories and messages in their guest book online at www.cookcaresbyron.com.
