Dear Paul,

It feels like only yesterday we were kids running around in your mom and dad’s house like wild animals playing games like cops and robbers.  I remember climbing up on the enormous wood  play-set and running around in the endless fields around your house together.   You and your brother were felt like the brothers I never had and no matter where our lives took us are connected in spirit.  Now you are watching over all of us. 

Even though you grew up to be a strong passionate man, I still see your precious little boy face,  blonde hair, and a giant smile that could melt anyone’s heart .   You will forever be in my heart with sweet memories. 

Although I am far away, my thoughts are with my family during this tragic time.  I love all of you. 

Rest In Peace cousin, I love you.

Dear brother, my heart is so broken and I cannot believe you are gone. I have so many memories of good times, including Free Beer and Hot Wings shows and concerts like  Shinedown, when you kept me from getting trampled when I fought to get to the stage. We had said we’d go see Ghost, but just never made it. I’ll always treasure the time when I’d had a tough breakup and you made me a picture to cheer me up. And when I came home from college very sick and you tried to make me laugh by calling me some random grandma name. When you were born I couldn’t believe that I was getting another brother at the age of 14. I know now that we were closer because of the age difference. 
The hardest part of this for me is that I always knew you held a lot of sadness. I regret not being able to fix that for you in some way. Whatever happened, I know you are now free of any pain and hurt. I will miss you every day. Love you forever. Andrea. 

I didn’t  get to say goodbye to you. But I did. I just didn’t know it’d be the last time. I remember exactly where we were standing, and that we made plans to see each other again. 

“I’ll text you this week,” you said.

And this is where it ends for now. 
Like one of our untied, to be continued conversation that I know we’ll pick up next time. I’m sure I’ll have more to say to you, and about you. I carry your memory around like a luck coin. I was so, so lucky to know you, and to say with confidence and pride that you’re my friend

ALL OF US  who loved you are profoundly changed by your loss. It’s as though we were swimming along, oblivious to our current and buoyancy, then abruptly and unceremoniously tossed from the sea. Forced to breath differently, to forever endure the crushing gravity of your absence.

I will never forget when David and I had a sleep over the night Paul was born. When his parents called from the hospital to let let David know he had a new baby brother, his response was "Paul? That's a stupid name!"

My deepest condolences to the entire Syrek family, I will be keeping you all, and Paul in my thoughts.

What can I say?  He was talented,  gifted,  and so, so loved!  Very funny will be missed forever and always!  You know your Aunt tell David Bowie and Tom Petty hey for me!

Paul and I hung out in high school and the years after. We had our "chen" group with Matt, Becky, Adam, Jonny, Danika, Will, and Kala. We hung out every day in Matt's garage coming up with weird stories like Sinister Sips and That's So Rach! We liked to go to Taco Bell almost daily and sit at the same table.
We haven't been close for a bit now, but I will always have love for Paul and the formative years of my life that we all were together. 

I met Paul in the 4th grade after moving to Rockford. He was the first friend I had at school, and he always had a way of reaching out and showing kindness. There’s so many great memories that come flooding back. From hanging out in downtown Rockford to playing in metal bands together. He was an awesome drummer, and playing music with Paul, Chris, and Nils is a memory I’ll always cherish. I’ll miss Paul’s sense of humor, and how he always found a way to make you laugh. Truly one of the funniest people. I will miss him tremendously.

Love you Paul. One million beebas for you brother. Lol!  I will always cherish every moment I had with you. One of a kind man. You will be missed by everyone who knew you. Rip man.

Paul is absolutely one of the kindest and funniest people I’ve ever met. From filming for our YouTube channel together to hanging out in his room at his parent’s house on late weekend nights, I wouldn’t trade any of our time together for anything else. He could always make me laugh. I am so proud to have been his friend. 

I have so many good memories of Paul. The one that I keep coming back to now is holding him in my arms when he was a baby. I was so proud that day to have a baby brother, and I have been proud to have him as a brother ever since. I will miss him so much, and I will always be greatful for him and the time we had together. I love you Paul
