Glen Warren Kepner, age 85, passed away at home surrounded by loved ones on July 13, 2024 in Byron Center, Michigan. Born to Neil George and Alice Jeannette (nee Anderson) Kepner on September 20, 1938, in Rochester, Minnesota, Glen led a life marked by dedication, compassion, and active community involvement.
Glen was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin - Madison and devoted his professional life to mechanical engineering. His career was characterized by a commitment to innovation and excellence. Glen was a devout and active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His faith played a significant role in his life, guiding him in his daily actions and devotions. Beyond his professional and spiritual commitments, Glen was deeply involved in various communities. He was a freemason, an Eagle Scout with a Silver Palm, and notably volunteered for 50 years at the Wisconsin State Fair Camp Ammon. His dedication to various clubs and organizations exemplified his commitment to service and community leadership.
To his family, he will be remembered for his extremely dry sense of humor; ability to fix or build just about anything; love of foot rubs, and back rubs; ice cream (especially mint chocolate chip, and anything from Dairy Queen); frugality (sometimes to a fault); cheering on the Green Bay Packers (ideally at Lambeau Field, regardless of the weather - a spectator at the infamous Ice Bowl); road trips; always keeping busy; big ideas (like his proposal to revamp social security); constancy; and a heart with room for everyone.
Married first to Sharon Mildred Payne in 1958 and later to Susan Stram in 1970, Glen was a loving husband and a father to a large and caring family. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Sue Kepner; children Marcia Dunsmoor, Pete (Sue) Dunsmoor, Rasco (Jason) Dunsmoor, Janet (Joe) Yskes, Patty (David) Basso, Linda Kepner, Samantha (Heather) Rowan, Joy (Randy) Boehme, Sarah Young, and Liz (Chad) Pierce; as well as 22 cherished grandchildren. Glen was preceded in death by his parents Neil and Alice (nee Anderson) Kepner, and his children Randy Dunsmoor, Mike Kepner, and Ginny Kepner.
A service to honor Glen's life and legacy will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, August 10, 2024 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2670 56th St. SW, Wyoming, MI 49519. Glen's life was a testament to his kind and caring nature, a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew him. The family welcomes memories and messages at www.cookcaresbyron.com in their online guest book.
