He is survived by his wife, Leta; sons Adam James (Trina) Morris and Matt (Danielle)
Morris; daughter, Amanda Morris; stepchildren Dawn (John) Dye and Rick Thorpe.
He has numerous beautiful grandchildren, whom he dearly loved; his Aunt Shirley (Bill) Grear; brothers Mike and Tim Morris; sisters Jodi DeDoes, Shirley Ely, and Ruth Oldford; and stepbrothers Randy (Jill) and Rusty (Sandy) Renbarger. A very BIG part of his life was the LZ Wrong Way gang and his Vietnam veterans brothers and sisters.
Floyd served faithfully and proudly in the US Army and Michigan National Guard for over 20 years. He worked as a brakeman/conductor for the CSX Railroad for 38 years. He took his beloved service dog, Calibur and Leta, and her therapy dog, LadyAnne to give pet therapy for veterans at the VA for four years. He was a lifetime member of Howard County Vietnam Veterans Organization and Vietnam Veterans of America. He loved fishing and his annual trips to Kokomo with Leta and the LZ Wrong Way gang. Floyd knew no strangers, had many friends, and he loved life. He loved to make people laugh, smile, tell stories, and was always willing to help others. Floyd was a true hero, as he saved numerous lives throughout his lifetime, but being very humble did not share this with most.
We will be celebrating Floyd’s life. Visitation will be held 3-5 p.m. Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at Cook - Byron Center Chapel, 2067 84th St. SW, Byron Center, Michigan 49315. A Celebration of Life will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 9 at the funeral home. Floyd would want you to be comfortable, so red/white/blue clothing and/or jeans are perfectly appropriate.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Howard County Vietnam Veterans Organization or Elara Caring Hospice Foundation. The family welcomes memories and messages in their guest book online at www.cookcaresbyron.com.
