Dale was a graduate of Grand Rapids Central High School, class of '74. From high school, Dale would go on to fulfill a lengthy career as an employee of TJ Maxx, from which he would retire years later. After retirement, Dale devoted volunteering most of his time to his community at the Mel Trotter food pantry.
Although Dale was an avid reader, he also enjoyed going to movies, concerts, and watching his favorite TV shows: Dancing with the Stars, American Idol, and The Masked Singer. Dale was excellent at movie and music trivia. His favorite entertainment artists were Cher, Diana Ross, Barbra Streisand, and Fantasia. Dale was a huge Houston Astros and Detroit Lions fan who truly enjoyed watching the games and cheering along for his favored teams with his dear friend, Earl.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Catherine “Kitty” Lytle; grandmother, Anna Roelofsen; and aunt, Dorothea “Dottie” DeLugt Collins. He will be lovingly remembered by his sister, Lori Rivera-Peek (Kenneth); nieces Veronica Birtles (Mark) and Jessica Rivera (Alfonso Izaguirre); great-niece Gabriella “Gabby” Birtles; and cousins Joann DeLugt Price and Anthony “Tony” DeLugt. Dale will be greatly missed by his family and friends and will be forever remembered in prayer.
