Chester Roger Arndt, age 88, went to be with his Lord Monday, May 22, 2023. Chester was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Arndt; parents Otto and Clara Arndt; siblings and brother- and sisters-in-law Erma Kraft, LaVern Arndt (Ginny), Victor Arndt (Ginny), Marion Rosendahl (Jim), Ruby Blair (Grover), Evelyn Klein (Harry), and Ruth Gosko (Dan), Duane Schut, and Joyce Wondergem. Chester will be lovingly remembered by his children Gary Arndt (Gail), Christine Meaney, Gregory Arndt (Carlena); four grandchildren Jeremy Arndt, Nicole Gerrits (Pete), Lauren Conigliaro, Stephanie Arndt; two great-grandchildren Brayan Domerese and Jaidyn Gerrits; sister-in-law, Betty Schut; and brother-in-law, Ed Wondergem; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Chester was honorably discharged from the Army, Army Reserve, and National Guard as a Staff Sergeant. He was very active in the church and served as head elder, taught Sunday school, Bible study, and served as Sunday school superintendent. Chester enjoyed travel with family and friends around the U.S., Haiti, Canada, and Germany. Many memories are enjoyed from all of the special trips they shared together. Chester liked to work in the garden, producing food that he could share with family and friends. He was very proud of his accomplishments as a real estate salesman and later Trusco, the business that he and his brothers had worked in together. He retired from GinSan Industries.
Visitation with friends and relatives will take place from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, May 25, 2023 at Cook Funeral Home, 2067 84th Street SW, Byron Center, MI 49315. A Celebration of Chester’s Life will commence 11 a.m. Friday, May 26, 2023, with visitation one hour prior, at Grace Lutheran Church, 150 50th Street SW, Wyoming, MI 49548. Pastor Zachary Marklevitz and Pastor Ryan Beffrey will be officiating. In honor of Chester and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Grace Lutheran Church of Wyoming, Michigan or Epiphany Lutheran Church of Dorr, Michigan.
