Barbara Sue Howarth, age 71, went to be with her Lord and Savior April 13, 2023. She passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, after a long battle with dementia. She is now whole in mind, body, and soul with Jesus.
Barb had a passion for flower gardening and loved creating beautiful landscapes outdoors. She had an eye for decorating and enjoyed searching for antiques and special pieces for her home. She treasured spending time with her grandchildren. Barb was strong in her Christian faith and was loved by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Virginia Wustman; first husband, George VanderSloot; and sister, Tami Wustman. She will be deeply missed by her amazing caregiver and husband, Dan Howarth; daughters Alissa (Mike) Wertz, Erin (Ray) Clous, Mandi (Tom) Bancroft, Jessica (Derrick) Bultema; stepchildren Chris (Jeannette) Howarth, Bryan (Danielle) Howarth, Michelle Howarth; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers Terry Wustman, Eric (Christy) Wustman; sister, Jodi Wustman; and by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at Cook Funeral Home (Byron Center Chapel) 2067 84th Street SW, Byron Center, MI 49315. A Celebration of Barb’s life will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at Cook Funeral Home (Byron Center Chapel). Barb will be laid to rest at Winchester Cemetery in Byron Center.
