On Wednesday, April 27, 2022, Allen Gregg Elzinga entered his heavenly home at the age of 83. He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Mary; brother, James; and brother-in-law, Larry. He will be lovingly remembered by his children Luann (Rich) Huizinga, Mary Beth (Lee) Oosterbaan, Bob (Laura) Elzinga, and Bill (Mirka) Elzinga; grandchildren Sarah (Jeremy) Apol, Mark (Amy) Huizinga, Rachel Huizinga, Scott Huizinga, Heather (Derrick) Buiter, Joy (Paul) Morin, Susan (John) Helmholdt, Matthew (Jori) Oosterbaan, Timothy (Lexi) Elzinga, Alexandria Elzinga, Jacob (Kacie) Elzinga, Isaac Elzinga, Jennifer Thrasher, Steven Thrasher, Caleb Elzinga, Leah Elzinga; great-grandchildren Michael, Gwendolyn, Vera, Logan, Lola, Lucy, Ryan, Ruthie, Dalton, Lance, Quinn, Aria, Cole, Emery, Logan, Tessa, Alivia, Eli, Kennedy, Ryleigh; siblings Marilyn Nederveld, Daniel (Sharon) Elzinga, Rosalie (George) Knarr; brother-in-law, Melvin Stuit; and sister-in-law, Joyce Hoezee.
Allen was born August 4, 1938 to George and Jeanette Elzinga in Byron Center. His life centered around his love for the Lord and his family. He was a lifelong member of First Reformed Church in Byron Center. He had a passion for the support of mission work and evangelism. Allen loved farming, horses, and music.
Visitation will be held from 4 - 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 1, 2022 at Cook Funeral Home in Byron Center (2067 84th St. SW, Byron Center, MI). Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 2, 2022 at First Reformed Church of Byron Center (8425 Byron Center Ave. SW, Byron Center, MI), with visitation from 10 - 10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
