Shirley Ann Crooks (Lindeman), 77, of Austin, Texas, passed away on November 7, 2023. She was born on July 20, 1946, in Fredericksburg, Texas, to the late Woodrow Lindeman and Helen Cervenka Lindeman of Bertram, Texas. Shirley was a graduate of Burnet High School, class of 1964. Shirley had an illustrious career at the Texas Education Agency, from 1965-1999, where she served as the Assistant to the Texas Commissioner and State Board of Education. Many of her lifelong friends were made at the TEA and she cherished her co-workers long after she left her position after 34 years. In her retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her family and had a loving relationship with Jim Weatherly.
She is survived by her son, Brian Crooks, daughter-in-law Jennifer Crooks, and her grandson, Colton Crooks. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Layden, and brother-in-law, Michael Layden, as well as her brother, Allen Lindeman, and sister, Barbara Lusinger. Additionally, she leaves behind numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces. She particularly enjoyed long talks with her niece, Shannon Brown, almost every night. She is predeceased by her parents, Woodrow, and Helen Lindeman.
The family appreciated and is grateful for the compassionate care and love shown to Shirley by the staff and hospice nurses at Brodie Ranch Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Shirley Ann Crooks will be remembered for her dedication to her career and the love she shared with her family and friends. She will be deeply missed, and her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
