Rumen Rumenov Eremiyski was born on August 18, 1985 in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. He enjoyed a happy, healthy, active childhood close to family. Then, on his eighth birthday he came with his parents and younger brother to America. He lived in Kentucky, California and Texas. He loved America, its freedom, and its generous people, and he was immensely proud to become a U.S. citizen in 2008.
Rumen loved sports, especially basketball, which he played all his life. Surfing was another of his passions, and he could frequently be found at Southern California’s top surfing locations. He also was an avid motorcycle rider and cyclist. He loved being outdoors, and frequently hiked the San Gabriel mountains of California. But Rumen’s gift and passion was design, and he received his Architect’s degree from California Polytechnic University at Pomona, soon thereafter passing his board exams to become a Licensed Architect, as well as an expert in “green construction”. Rumen practiced both commercial and residential architecture, with a focus on integrating indoor and outdoor spaces. He worked for several leading architecture firms but started his own company, Seeds Studios, to develop his own architectural ideas. His first commission as lead architect of Seeds Studios was the design and construction of a new home for his parents in the beautiful little foothill town of Claremont, California. His parents called the home “Rancho Ehad”, which refers to the Hebrew concept of “One All-Powerful God”. He was proud of the beautiful and functional home and gardens he designed and built for his family.
Rumen grew up close to God, taught by his mother to cherish his relationship with our personal saviour Jesus. This was not easy to do growing up in Bulgaria, a Communist country with an official policy of atheism. He came to the U.S.A. and thrived, excelling in academics, sports, and building strong ties to the Church. Rumen’s love for God was followed by his love for his family, and he always dedicated time to his two younger brothers. Rumen had a special talent for making friends, and he was close to people all over the world. He frequently worked with architects and designers from foreign countries, pioneering a business model that sought and leveraged international collaboration.
Rumen was creative, kind and generous, always ready to solve a problem or help out a friend or a stranger. His smile was infectious and his sense of humor was legendary. We miss him so much.
Rumen is survived by his grandmother Pavlina, his mother Shaynah, his father Joseph, his brothers Emmanuel and Daniel, and his sister-in-law Rachel. His aunts and uncle include Bonnie (Jerry), Valerie, Anna, Teresa (Daniel) Ivana and Michael (Janice). He passed into eternal life on April 20, 2021. Rumen's Funeral Service was held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, April 27th in the Chapel at Hoover's Valley Cemetery with burial following there after service. Arrangements made by Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home Burnet, Texas.
