Ruby Mary (Levingston) Barton, age 94 passed away late Sunday May 22, 2011. She was born March 19, 1917 to Reuben Levingston and Sarah “Sallie” (Avery) Levingston in Burnet County. On December 31, 1935, she married Herman Barton and they later had two sons, Alfred Herman Barton, Jr. (Sonny) and Larry Avery Barton.
Ruby was a member of the Bertram Cumberland Presbyterian Church since 1939 and during this time she served as a Deacon and Elder, treasurer for 15 years, and was active in the women’s groups of her church. Ruby proudly served as a Presbyterial Officer and with Synod ladies groups as well. For the past few years since Herman’s death, Ruby resided at Country Oaks in Burnet. She was quite active, both mentally and physically. She loved playing games of all kinds and enjoyed being in touch with friends and family.
Ruby is survived by her son Larry Barton and wife Kay of Burnet and daughter-in-law Karen Barton of Seadrift. Also surviving are grandchildren Donna Pahmeyer, Michele Matthews, Wade Barton, Luke Barton, Clay Barton, Mary Barton, and Anna Barton. She is also survived by her step grandchildren Kelly Aldis, Lauren Belk, Leslie Soucek, and Colin Keag. Nine great grandchildren also survive. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years Herman Barton, son Alfred H. (Sonny) Barton, Jr., and granddaughter Kimille Kay Barton.
Visitation was held Tuesday, May 24, 2011 from 6-8 pm at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home. Funeral Services were held Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at 10 am at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Bertram with Reverend Daryl Johnson officiating. Pallbearers named were Luke Barton, Clay Barton, Wade Barton, Robert Pahmeyer, Dayton Warden, Jr., and Jamie Brizendine.
