She was born August 28, 1950 in Brady to Victor Herrera Jr. and Irene Gonzales.
Maggie grew up in the Pontotoc and Mason area with her brothers and sisters, Ruben Herrera, Gilbert Herrera, Janie Aguirre, Becky Palacios, Vickie Villanueva, Frances Herrera, and Robert Herrera (deceased).
Maggie met and married her husband David Maldonado, Jr. and settled down in Bertram where David began his construction business. After their first 4 children, David’s business boomed and they were able to begin building their dream home on 24 acres in the country. After moving in they had 2 more children. In order of appearance: Cynthia Maldonado-Fronk, David Maldonado III, Samuel Maldonado, Pamela Maldonado, Nina Maldonado, and Lisa Maldonado.
Maggie was fortunate to be a stay at home mother. She was a devout Catholic who raised her children thus. Maggie was also an amazing cook and the BEST tortilla maker. Her favorite hobbies were sewing and taking walks up and down her mile and a half driveway in the country. She taught CCE classes on Sunday at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church in Burnet. Much of her time was spent looking after her children, grandchildren, home and small ranch.
Maggie and David were blessed to have 13 grandchildren: Joshua and Jacob Fronk, Triston and Jade Maldonado, Mason Maldonado-English, Samantha and Sienna Maldonado and Steven Belamares, David Bobby “Bullet” McGraw, Samuel Jr. and Lily Maldonado and Ethan and Ariel Baladez.
Beloved by her family and cherished by her friends, Maggie was gifted the support and love of the wonderful staff at Bertram Nursing and Rehab in her last years.
Maggie is survived by her Husband David, her children, their spouses, all her grandchildren.
Rosary was held at 7 p.m., Sunday, October 29th 2017 at Clements Wilcox Funeral Home in Burnet. Funeral services and Mass was held at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Bertram at 10 am October 30, 2017. Interment followed the service at Santa Rosa Cemetery in Andice.
