LaVerne Underwood Martin Branum

LaVerne was preceded in death by her mother Ann Riddles Hoover of Brady, her children’s father Harold “Pud” Martin, Scottsboro, Alabama and her grandson Tony Manning of San Angelo. She is survived by her son Jack Martin and wife Susan of Valleyhead, Alabama and daughters Helen McKee and husband Gary of San Angelo and Ann Oliver and husband David of Burnet. Also surviving is her brother Darrell Underwood and wife Wanda of Dallas and her sister Charlotte Underwood of San Angelo. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins.

LaVerne had a passion for hairdressing and dancing. She loved to do a Texas Two Step or a Texas Waltz, especially with her two sons-in-law. Her hair was always top shelf and boy could she put out a hair style.

A visitation for LaVerne will be held Thursday evening from 6 to 8 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home. Her funeral will be held Friday morning at 10 at Northside Baptist Church in Burnet. Burial will follow at 3pm at Calf Creek Cemetery near Brady. Those named as pallbearers were Gary McKee, David Oliver, Terry Oliver, Jeff Manning, Taylor Manning-Steele, Stephen Shuffield, Bradley Shuffield and honorary pallbearer Garrett Steele.
