Larry Wayne Watson and twin sister Laura were born in Burnet, Burnet Co, Texas May 12, 1949, at the old Shepperd Hospital. Larry passed away on April 18, 2023 at age 73. Their parents were Willis Charles Watson and Miriam Odean Evers Watson.
Larry had a deep love and admiration for his father. Larry's father instilled in him a love for the outdoors and taught him the value of hard work, which stayed with Larry throughout his life. Larry always knew his mother was able to find ways to make things happen no matter the circumstances.
Larry was only six months old in 1950, but even then, he was drawn to the outdoors, likely due to his father's work as a fishing guide and caretaker for a fishing camp while living in Llano, Texas.
The family moved around the Texas Hill Country until 1956 and his dad ended up taking a job managing the Young Sheep Ranch in Stonewall, Texas. Larry's skills on the ranch were impressive, and the owner recognized this by giving him a small paycheck at the end of the month. Larry was proud of his contribution to the ranch and would often brag about it to his sisters.
Despite his young age, Larry would often spend afternoons hunting with his 22 rifle. Larry and his twin sister, Laura, were very close and always had each other’s back. Since his older sister, Joyce, would keep him on a short leash when she got the chance to fill the role of “mom”, when he would get the chance, he always made his little sister, Linda, open the gate.
In 1963 his parents bought a house in the country near Ingram, Texas. For Larry, the best thing about the place was a creek across the highway and nothing but woods behind the house. He could go hunting or fishing anytime. Larry was always working on his car, lawn mower or anything that had an engine in it.
Larry's father helped build a small gospel church in Ingram, for which his father was the preacher for a period. The family frequently went to church four or five times a week in addition to Revivals. Larry made great friends at church and remained close to many of them throughout his life.
In 1967, the family lived in Austin, Texas which was near a golf course. Larry saw an opportunity and turned into an entrepreneur by collecting golf balls and selling them to his school principal.
The family moved to Cedar Park, Texas in 1968, where Larry soon fell in love with the person who would become the love of his life.
Larry had 3 siblings: Joyce Watson (deceased), Laura Jane Kirk (deceased) and Linda Doyle.
Larry and Carlene were married in August 28, 1970 and had 2 children, Emmet Charles Watson and Gary Wayne Watson.
Emmet Charles is married to Jessica Watson and they have 4 children; Heather Nicole Pelfrey, Tabatha Meagan Dawdy, Ashley Belinda Carolyn Dyer, and Tiffany Noel Pelfrey (deceased).
Gary Wayne Watson is married to Pamela Joy McCormick and Gary’s children are Christopher Wayne Watson, Angelica Sue Watson, Destiney Renee Watson, and Zachary Wayne Watson. Gary was previously married to Mary Andre who is the mother of Christopher, Angelica and Destiney.
