He is survived by his wife Bonnie of fifty-eight years, sons Chad Jordan (Tammy) of Katy, TX and Dudley Jordan (Nichole) of Southlake, TX, grandchildren Taylor Jordan (Brooke), Katelyn Watson (Dalton), Jacob and Hannah Jordan and one great-granddaughter, Lily Beth Watson.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Maxine Jordan, brother Eugene Jordan and several beloved aunts and uncles.
Born on October 29, 1941 in Crockett, Texas, Jerry’s family lived in several towns in the Texas panhandle before moving to south Texas and settling in George West in 1953. While in school there he played baseball, was in the marching band and was first chair clarinet for several years. It was his junior year in high school that he met Bonnie, who seven years later in July of 1965, became his bride.
He attended the University of Texas and graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering.
As a dad to Chad and Dudley, he worked with them in their scouts and coached little league for five years. He and Bonnie were always present at all their games and events. He instilled in them the value of hard work.
After forty-four years of working as a petroleum engineer, Jerry and Bonnie retired and moved to Burnet in 2009 where Jerry was able to live out his two favorite pastimes – hunting with long-time friends and fishing with new friends.
Anyone who would prefer, can make a donation to the building fund of the First Baptist Church of Burnet in lieu of flowers.
A memorial service for Jerry will be held on Monday May 27, 2024 at First Baptist Church of Burnet at 1:00pm.
