Gilbert Robles, a devoted veteran and longtime resident of Burnet, Texas, transitioned on January 29, 2021 at the age of 75. Gilbert was born in Eden, Texas on February 19, 1945, the oldest son to Anselmo and Juanita Robles.
As a young man, he was a devoted son, avid music lover and reader, but more than anything, he was a supportive and loving role model to his younger brothers and sisters.
He was drafted into the US Army and served in the Vietnam War where his bravery and strength earned him the Bronze Star Medal with valor. He continued his service in the National Guard Armory division for 17 years.
Gilbert met his forever love, Eloise Marez in 1973. Together they enjoyed traveling, dancing and live music concerts. He was the loving father to six children in which he instilled the importance of pride, integrity, hard work and education.
Gilbert was a kind hearted, devoted Catholic man who always provided encouraging wisdom to everyone he crossed paths with. He believed anything was achievable despite any setbacks. He leaves behind a legacy of courage, strength and respect.
Gilbert is survived by his wife of 47 years, Eloise of Burnet, Texas; his children Mario Robles, wife Lue Ann of Alvarado, Texas; Nick Robles, wife Theresa of Burnet, Texas; Stephanie Robles of Burnet, Texas; Trina Howell, husband Josh of Burnet, Texas; Nene Robles of Austin, Texas, and Elaine Reyna, husband Gabriel of Lubbock, Texas. He also leaves his grandchildren, Jonathan, Clarissa, Nathan, Hannah, Gabrielle, Olivia, Gideon, John (Ben), Elizabeth, Joan, Owen, LeAndra, Zachary, Matthew and Liliana; his three great-grandchildren Presley, Anna Marie and Ivonna; four brothers, four sisters and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded by his parents, Anselmo and Juanita Robles; brother, Charlie Robles; sister, Elida Chavez and grandson, Julius Robles.
A Mass service is scheduled for 10 am on February 13, 2021 at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church with the inurnment at Post Mountain Cemetery with military honors. The rosary will be held at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home on Friday, February 12 at 7 pm.
