David lived most of his life in Austin where he worked as a flooring contractor. He enjoyed the outdoors and liked hunting, fishing, and camping and working on race cars. He will be remembered as a family man who loved being around and with his family and to BBQ for family gatherings. David was married to his wife Betty (Hamilton) Dougherty on February 4, 1980 in Austin.
David is survived by wife Betty of Austin, sons Frankie Teague of San Angelo, David Dougherty II, and Billy J. Dougherty both of Austin. Also surviving are brothers Roy Dean Dougherty of Houston and Richard Dougherty and Roger Dougherty both of Austin. David is also survived by his sister Margie Milstead of Austin as well as 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew Cody Dougherty.
Those named as pallbearers were Joe Dougherty, Justin Dougherty, Roger Dougherty, Frankie Teague, Clayton Dougherty, Eli Conrad, Braiden Dougherty, and Caden Teague.
Graveside service and burial held at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Bethel Cemetery.
