Cindy was born in Wilkesboro, North Carolina to Henry and Ruth Vance on November 1, 1958. After spending her adolescent years in North Carolina, she moved to Texas in 1977 eventually settling in Burnet in 1991. Cindy married David Newhall, a retired Air Force serviceman, in 1994, and until his passing in 2016, the two enjoyed a happy marriage that included traveling and days spent pressing their luck in their favorite casinos.
Cindy was a worker and challenged herself to learn as much as she could in her adult life. She worked in healthcare from 1980-2000 and then tried something new with jobs in retail where she was a store manager for Rack Room Shoes and Dollar General.
Cindy’s battle with cancer began in 2010 when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Not only did she fight it and win, she then decided to go back to college where she graduated in May of 2015 from Central Texas A&M, cum laude, with not one but two associates degrees and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration in Human Resource Management.
She soon took on a new role as a bank teller until her battle with cancer returned with a 2019 diagnosis of brain cancer. Once again Cindy fought. Altogether, she spent 14 years fighting. She was an absolute inspiration to everyone she met, and always had a positive attitude despite her cancer diagnosis.
Cindy enjoyed many things in life, but her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were so special to her. She was a constant supporter of their endeavors and took special care in always making sure they received the best Christmas gifts. She cherished being a Memaw.
She loved family, people, shopping, shoes, but most of all her grandchildren.
Cindy is proceeded in death by her parents, Henry and Ruth Vance; her husband of 29 years, David Newhall; brothers, Dennis Vance and Jeffrey Vance; sisters, Cheryl Rogers, Katrina Perry and Nancy Johnson.
She is survived by her daughter Rebecca Warwick and her husband Charlie, as well as their children Ryan and Baylee Warwick, all of Burnet; daughter Ruth Potts and her husband Robert of Gate City, Virginia; and their children Shannon Marie Potts, Alex and his wife Cassidy Potts, and Brandi Potts.
She was blessed with two great-grandchildren, Sarah Ashbaugh and Wrenlee Potts.
Cindy is also survived by sisters Jeanne Dotson and her fiancé Phillip; Linda Day and her husband Donald; and brother Michael Vance and his wife Angela; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Cindy will be laid to rest next to her husband David at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children's Research Hospital in Cindy’s name to honor her battles.
