Clifford (C.M.) Wilson was born to Velma Greer Wilson and Thomas Wilson on April 15, 1927. He passed away July 21, 2016. He grew up in the Bertram/Mahomet area, played sports at Bertram High School. Clifford was a private in the Texas State Guard and was honorably discharged to join the Army where he was assigned to the 311th and 29th Infantry Regiment Services in Germany. He had special police duties mostly checking civilian and military passes at the gate of a military installation. He also had training in machinegun and mortar squads. Upon his honorable discharge from the Army in 1947 he was the recepient of an Army of Occupational Medal and a World war II Victory Medal upon returning home he married Edith Heine on August 17, 1947 and together they raised four boys, Lee, Don, Randy and Ricky Wilson.
Up until Edith’s failing health Clifford was an active member in the First Christian Church as a deacon and also assisting with various assignments needed in the church.
Clifford lived most of his life in Lake Jackson, TX and was employed by Dow Chemical until his retirement returning to the Bertram area where he grew wonderful gardens and ran a few cows on the home place. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith, his parents Velma and Leslie Wilson, and his two brothers, Wilford and Wilton (Red) Wilson.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his brothers Wilford and Red Wilson. He went on several trips to Colorado to hunt.
He is survived by his sons, Lee and wife, Shirley Wilson of Bertram, Don Wilson of Kingsland, Randy Wilson of Bertram and Ricky Wilson of Kingsland and by his grandchildren, Tracy Wilson of Georgetown, Julie and husband Steve Wahrmund of Bertram, Vicki Hale and Seth Viddal of Bennett, Colorado, Jason and Christina Wilson of Lake Jackson, Rachel and husband Jesus (Flea) Cantu of Lake Jackson, Shelby Perez and husband Nick of Lampasas and Holly Wilson and husband of Kansas. 13 great grandchildren and 4 great, great children.
Pallbearers were: Tracy Wilson, Tommy Wilson, Lee Wilson, Don Wilson, Randy Wilson and Ricky Wilson.
The family wishes to thank the caring staff of the Bertram Nursing home and Hospice Austin for making his last days comfortable.
Graveside services were held Monday July 25, 2016 at Mahomet Cemetery.
