Carol Bird

Carol was married to Wade Bird on August 10, 1963 in Burnet County, Texas. Carol and Wade were married for 59 years at the time of her passing. There were two children born to them - Karen and Steven.

One of Wade and Carol's favorite things to do was to go dancing and listen to music. They had many happy times and made many friends going out dancing. Carol loved her grandkids and enjoyed having them at "Grandmama's house".

Carol worked for several years as a "lunch lady" at the Bertram Elementary school. She made many good friends there and had many fond memories of the children she helped provide lunch for during the school year. Carol was also a highly decorated member of the Bertram Lioness Club.

Carol is survived by her husband Wade Bird of Bertram, daughter Karen Chism and husband Ken of Lometa, son Steven Bird and wife Beth of Bertram, grandchildren Tayler Chism and wife Larissa, Glen Chism and wife Orenda and Jesse Chism, all of Lometa, Leonard Bird and wife Rebecca and Katie Bird all of Bertram and great-granddaughter Audra Chism of Lometa.

Carol is also survived by her brother and sisters, Jimmy Allen, Pat Jackson, Ann Kay and Sandra Crawford and by many, many nieces and nephews who fondly referred to her as "Auntie". She is survived by her brother-in-law Buddy Bird and sisters-in-law Lola Case, Frances Tate Boring and Lila Wilson.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents-in-law Elmer and Rubye Bird, by her parents Jim and Polly Allen, her brother, Eddie Allen and her sisters-in-law Lois Shell and Marlene Allen.

Serving as pallbearers are Tayler Chism, Glen Chism, Jesse Chism, Leonard Bird, Jason Allen and Chris Headrick

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Bertram Nursing Home for their care of Carol during her stay there.

A visitation will be at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home for Carol on Thursday, April 6, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral service at Clements-Wilcox chapel will occur on Friday, April 7, 2023 at 10:00 AM. Burial will then take place at Bear Creek Cemetery on Friday, April 7, 2023.
