Bobby J. Shelton, age 85 of Burnet, Texas, arrived in the eternal presence of the Lord on September 18, 2019, at Autumn Leaves Georgetown, Texas. He was born to Boyd N. and Willie Bea Shelton in Millport AL on July 13, 1934.
Viewing will be at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home in Burnet, Sunday, September 22, 6-8 pm, funeral service celebrating his life will be held on Monday, September 23, 2019, 10 am, First Baptist Church, Burnet, Texas with burial following at 3 pm, Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, San Antonio, Texas.
Bobby grew up in Columbus, Mississippi. Upon graduation from high school, he joined the U.S. Air Force where he retired after 22 years at the rank of Master Sergeant serving many stations stateside and in England and Spain. Post military he served many years in financial management.
Family and friends remember Bobby as a gentleman who lived his faith daily through service to his church as a deacon, hospitality, and tender concern for the welfare of others. An avid arm-chair sports fan he avidly followed the Spurs and Cowboys, loved having a good time even at his own expense and made sure everyone else did also.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Charlotte; four daughters: Karen (Clayton) Green of Jacksonville, FL, Kim (Craig) Dunbar of San Antonio, TX, Stephanie (Vince) Livingston of Burnet, and Stacy (Marcus) Horner of Burnet; sister, Ruth (Arnold) Rushing of Columbus, MS, brother, Larry (Bonita) Shelton of Altus, OK; 7 precious grandchildren: Ana Livingston of San Antonio, TX, Ariella (Travis) Meadows of San Antonio TX, Trevor Livingston, Dylan Livingston, Axy Horner, Payloe Horner and Piper Horner all of Burnet.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Charles A. Shelton and Clyde L. Shelton, and sister Anne S. Ashcraft.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Burnet designated for the construction of a chapel at the Women's Prison in Burnet or as a donor tribute to the Alzheimer Association.
