JANUARY 20, 1932 – NOVEMBER 4, 2022
Father of 2 productive sons and a devoted husband to a loving wife of more than 68 years. He was born in Canton (Hoisan) China, the eldest of 3 sons. His early life was a difficult one, having to run from the war when Japan invaded China. With China devastated by war and an uncertain future, he decided to move his young family to Hong Kong, where he learned the trade of tailoring as well as being an accountant.
Ying Cheuk lived in Hong Kong for 7 years until an opportunity arose in Canada, where he would rejoin his 2 brothers in Victoria, BC. Due to his limited knowledge of the English language, life was challenging. He worked as a chef, a job which required long hours and very late nights. Through his hard work and determination, he managed to support a healthy family in a new country.
After he retired, he and his loving wife moved to live with their younger son in Vancouver, BC, where he found peace and enjoyment. He died peacefully at Richmond Hospital on November 4th, 2022 at 10:15 pm at the rightful age of 90 years old. Mr. Ying Cheuk Lee is survived in death by his wife, Fai; his 2 sons, Wilson (Lily), Douglas (Rebecca); and 2 grandchildren Nicole and Brendan. Ying Cheuk was preceded in death by his 2 brothers, Dick and Brian. All three brothers are now at rest.
