Wu Pei was born in Taishan, Guangdong, China, the third eldest of four siblings and immigrated to Vancouver, Canada with his wife and four children in January, 1981. He graduated from the University of Hunan in China with a degree in geology. Before moving to Canada, he was a well-respected high school teacher for many years and he is remembered by many of his former students for his dedication, intellectual intelligence and mentorship. In his golden years, he spent his time looking after his grandkids, growing his impressive vegetable garden and attending to his fish, turtles and birds. He was a devoted, hardworking, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He was lovingly survived by his devoted wife of sixty-eight years, Hsiu Chen Wu; eldest daughter, I-Mei Guo (Jia-An), second daughter, Jeanne Chow (Kenny), son, Kenny Wu (Susanna), and third daughter, Wendy Won (Raymond); ten grandchildren: Melissa McPherson (Colin), Sylvia Cleaver (Spencer), Tiffany Huynh (Vu), Jason Chow (Tasha), Lawrence Chow (Natalie), Brian Wu, John Wu, Lyndon Won, Tyler Won and Connor Won; seven great grandchildren: Ella McPherson, Aiden McPherson, Axel Cleaver, Cora Cleaver, Carter Huynh, Clara Huynh, and Leon Chow; and many nephews and nieces.
