On May 7, 2021, Bill passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 94. Bill is predeceased by his loving wife of 60 years Bernice and his son Brian and will be dearly missed by his children Don and Arlane; grandchildren Christine, Brian (Jessica), Sean and James; and great-grandchildren Brody, Emma, Nolan, and Tristan.
Bill was a veteran of WWII and served 36 years with the Vancouver Police Department before retiring as Inspector in 1983. Bill’s great passion in life was the bagpipes and he played (and was Pipe Major of) several bands including the Seaforth Highlanders, the Irish Fusiliers, the Vancouver Police Pipe Band, and the Gizeh Shrine Pipe Band.
Despite the sadness we are all left with right now, we are comforted knowing that Bill’s legacy is one of honour and kindness, and he has made an impactful difference in the lives of so many. The world is a better place because of Bill Baird. We love you Dado, you can rest now.
Due to COVID protocols, an outdoor service will be held once PHO restrictions have been eased.
