Deepest condolences for the passing of Walter, a fine man who left his mark in my heart, as all your dear family has for me. I am sorry it has taken me so long to discover online about his passing. My memories from those days of visits & phone calls & my admiration of your home & garden are readily stirred. It has been a good many years though and my thoughts of you are fond. Bless you all. Farewell to Ng Sir - An Inspiring Teacher, A Dear Mentor, and A Blessed Angel to QES Students  

Much has been written about Ng Sir’s mastery of the English language, his expertise in teaching English, and his skills in nurturing our appreciation of a language so critical to our career.  One of my fondest memories of Ng Sir is from serving as his General Business Assistant (劇務) for the school play “英雄?” in 1966, performed to raise fund for expanding the Sai Kung School Camp.

My first task for every rehearsal was simple: bring Ng Sir’s ashtray from his office to his side. The simplicity ended there. Working for a creative genius with high performance standards like him was inspiring, challenging, engaging, and most rewarding.  Working with him, I learned a lot about the performing art, creativity, professionalism, ethics and integrity.

As his 劇務, I had to keep detailed records of everything about the play, the script, the setting, the team, his instructions, comments, observations, new ideas and decisions. I was amazed at his power of observation, multi-facet perspectives, attention to details and resourcefulness.  His leadership ability to bring out the best from the team, at the front-stage and behind the scenes was awesome.

Ng Sir also devoted a lot of his own time to developing leaders through extracurricular activities; he believed that leaders are made, not born. His coaching and support for the students made QES a source of talent for many fields.

Ng Sir left a rich legacy behind.  We will forever be grateful to him. He will live in our hearts and minds forever.

Mr. Walter Ng is indeed one of the best teachers of my life. His teaching is like good vintage wine, and his eloquence will forever live in “Somewhere in Time”, music that feels like an old warm sweater!

I was a student in Northcote College of Education 1971 to 1973. I think I was not in Mr. Ng’s class, but he was the warden of residence which I lived in that 2 years. He was also our stage drama director/coach, which I was in 2 plays. One was “Man and Superman” by Bernard Shaw. He used the name “卜紀生” in his drama activities. Because of his name “Walter” and his size, we nicked name him as “fat water” 肥水. It was not meant to be disrespect. On the contrary, it was an affectionate code name. I remember he never crack a smile, not because he was unfriendly, instead he was always firm and serious. One time a group of us sneaked out of the dorm late night for a food in Water Street which was against house rule. He caught us while we tried to sneak back in. He gave us a lecture, needless to say, but no punishment. I can feel that he was not angry, very disappointed at our behaviour since we supposedly to be responsible adults. We can feel his care and love for us like a fatherly figure. We never did it again, sort of grown up overnight. 
I’ve never saw him again after graduation, so surprised to see his latest photo that he lost so much weight. But I could recognise that little gap between his 2 upper incisors, kind of his trademark. Bet he had a wonderful retired life in Vancouver.

As one of my English teachers at Queen Elizabeth School, Hong Kong, in the 1960s,  you have inspired me with your (r)evolutionary style of teaching oral English in classes and also in the Drama Society, leading me to my immersion style of learning English and any lingo in a life-changing manner.

It is with the deepest sympathy that I hear of Mr. Walter Ng's passing.

Mr. Ng was a great teacher,  and an inspiring lecturer with a great sense of humour.

I also recall how he used to refer to you with such tender affection. We will all miss him.

Uncle Walter or as I called him  my "Daddy"  He was  my 2nd Dad.
It came about when I went to Hong Kong  at age 17  and NCE became my 2nd home  under the loving  care and guidance of Daddy Walter, Auntie Helene(Mommy) and Tonya
Those years with him and his family  was the most memorable years of my life .His  boundless love for me, his  generosity , and his example of his  love for life,  his curiosity , adventurous nature(always snooping in the back alley of Hong Kong)  opened  his world for me as well
His introduction to me  for the love of his books in different areas- art, antiques, photography, philosophy, history, drama, movies were all eye openings.
His love of sports especially soccer, made Tonya the best goalie as a 2year old   in the grounds of NCE!
He was a well rounded cool Daddy. As he had said to me many, many a times   "I AM A COOL CAT"
May he rest in Peace until we meet again

Ng Sir was one of my best teachers in all my life, not only being so passionate and devoted in teaching, but also with his guidance that I was able to explore a widen and brighter world! I couldn’t forget how he introduced us that poetic Lake District of England which was enveloped by bright and lively daffodils; now that daffodils begin to bloom in Burnaby again , may you Rest In Peace , our forever beloved “ jolly good fellow”!

your students while I was at N.C.E. 50 years ago.
During my training there, I have learnt a lot from you. Your passion for teaching and your loving care for students were exemplary, cultivating in our young minds important values such as confidence and passion for learning. Walter was an inspiring teacher who made History a fun subject to learn.  He will be missed by many of us.

Walter was not just a good teacher in QES in the subjects of English, history and civic studies. He was passionate in teaching me, both in and out of school hours, how to learn by myself and bringing out the best in me. I treasure and cherish my ongoing friendship with Walter, Helene and Tonya for over half a century. He will be sorely missed.

Mr. Ng was a great teacher, a caring pastor and  a dedicated director. Through him, I learned a lot of things that could not be learned from books. His passion to life and education, his humble character,  his philosophical and creative thinking,  his seriousness in accomplishing a task... all of these are valuable teachings and are still fresh in my mind.  Mr. Ng has set a good example as an educator and a practitioner of how to live with love and faith.  Thank you, Mr. Ng.   🙏🙏

Mr. Ng taught my History class in QES. He was an entertaining teacher with a big smile. His expression was lively and  it was like watching a play. I still remember when we learn about Egypt, he told us to use the pencils as tools to move the books to pretend we were moving big stones for building pyramids. Even we had not contact for. Over half a century, these memories flashed back. Mr. Ng was a remarkable teacher. I wish I have the chance of learning more from him.

肥水Sir,
You were my QES F.2 1st term class & English teacher (taken over by Mr O Lam in the 2nd term since you went to NCE). After 53 years, I can still remember your lively lessons, phonetics, nursery rhymes, poems, drama, and humour. You have the ability to turn dull lessons into fun. You are a great teacher, and will always live in my heart!

I am forever grateful for the experience in the Drama Society under Mr. Ng when I studied in QES in the 1960s.  Such experience laid the foundation of my career as a team leader and a team player.  Mr. Ng's teaching still rings in my head and I pay tribute to him for his passion for his students. His ife was a celebration.  He will continue to live in my heart.

Mr. Ng was our History teacher in QES. His lesson was and still is the most lively and memorable History that I have attended. He has the unique ability to bring History to live. Mr. Ng, your lessons will always be part of my history and will lives on forever.

Mr. Walter Ng has been my Form 3 English teacher and a tutor in the Drama Soceity  in QES. He has also been my colleague in NCE. He is very inspiring and dynamic with his teaching approach. A forerunner of Activity approach and autonomous learning. A respected model teacher who has made a big difference in me. May he  Rest In Peace.

You are fondly remembered as my favourite history teacher in my junior forms in QES. Your dramatic depictions in class never failed to grab the attention of the young and inquiring minds. They could only be done with lots of talents and the desire to inspire the generations to come.
