He is survived by his daughters, Tracy (Neal) Uchida, Kerri (Scott) Johannson, significant other Gail Fedje and her family, grand-children Caine, Isla, Aerik, and Chet, and mother of his children, Susan Johannson. He joined his family who preceded him – mother Esther, father Bjorn (Barney), brothers David and Cameron, baby sister Helen, and his beloved loyal pal, Briar.
Wade was born in New Westminster, BC May 4th 1948, spent formative years in Terrace, then grew up on Capitol Hill in Burnaby, where he graduated from Burnaby North. He enlisted in the RCMP at age 18, completing 25 years of service, most of it in “K” (Wainwright, Calgary, Edmonton) then in “E” (North Vancouver) divisions. He was known as “A cop’s cop”, a testament to his loyalty and integrity. Upon RCMP retirement, he ran his own private investigation business, retiring just a few years ago.
Wade enjoyed many passions. He was a gifted athlete from hockey to golf, an avid reader, and thrived on being politically and socially engaged. He loved animals, advocating strongly for humane treatment of pets and wildlife. Wade loved to laugh and did so frequently and heartily, appreciating humour and wit in any scenario. He was brilliant and enjoyed a level of emotional intelligence beyond compare. He fought for justice and fairness throughout his life. He was a friend to many, with insightful words of wisdom for all.
The world is a better place for him having been in it – he was larger than life, and his long-lasting impact will endure with all who knew him. We are so thankful to be his daughters and we will carry his inspiration, love, and guidance with us forever.
