Dr. Tse Hsi Liu

Dr. Tse Hsi Liu, age 92 passed away peacefully at Broadway Lodge in the evening of February 3, 2024.

Tse Hsi was born in Toi Shan Canton, China on September 2, 1931. He had an older brother and sister and he was the third child in the family.

He married Woon Chu Lau in 1954 and bore three sons.

He graduated from Huibei Medical School in 1959 and practiced as a Pediatrician at the People’s Hospital of Foshan from September 1959 to April 1981. During his tenure at Foshan hospital, he learned both traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine and was successfully able to integrate both disciplines to serve his community.

He immigrated to Canada in 1981 to reunite with the Lau family in Vancouver and he continued to use his medical knowledge and expertise to serve the local Chinese community. Dr. Liu worked at Nam Hing Hon, Chinatown, as a doctor of traditional Chinese medicine from 1982 until his retirement in 2007. He successfully cured many people and earned the respect of his patients and members of the traditional Chinese medical community. He also contributed to the local traditional Chinese medical community with his many articles and seminars.

His passion for all aspects of medicine continued beyond his retirement and he would often read medical journals to keep himself updated to new breakthroughs and discoveries.

Dr. Liu and his wife loved to travel. They explored San Francisco, Alaska, Vietnam, Singapore, Hawaii, Japan , Korea, Hong Kong and China.

He loved and supported his family. His greatest joy was seeing his children and grandchildren mature into upstanding members of the community. He will be greatly missed by his families and friends.

He is survived by his son Gordon (Clarisa), son Eric (Winnie), son Kei; and five grandchildren; Cheryl, Tiffany, Brittanie, Kyle and Connor.

Visitation will be held at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 3789, Royal Oak Avenue Burnaby , BC on February 27, from 4:30pm to 6:30pm. Funeral service will be held 10:00am on February 28, 2024 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home with the burial to follow. There will be a celebration of life lunch 1pm at Golden Swan Restaurant, 5380 Victoria Drive, Vancouver, BC.
