With great sadness, we lost Shirley Stephens last Friday, at the age of 87. Shirley will be remembered for her humour, generosity, compassion and love. For decades, Shirley was an exemplary elementary school teacher. After graduating from the University of British Columbia, she devoted her career to educating children and encouraging them to grow to their full potential. Shirley cared greatly for children and will be remembered by many for the pride and compassion she demonstrated daily.
Shirley was predeceased by her husband, George Stephens, and is survived by her sisters, Frances Scott (Thomas Scott) and Beverly McGillivray; her niece, Christie Scott and nephew Greg Scott (Christy Scott).
Please join the family in remembering Shirley Stephens on Saturday, June 24 at 9:30am for the funeral service at Forest Lawn Funeral Home at 3789 Royal Oak Avenue, Burnaby, BC.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Shirley's name to the Alzheimer's Society of Canada - http://www.alzheimer.ca/en/
