April 3, 1947 – October 25, 2010
We lost our gentle giant suddenly, unexpectedly, and far too soon. Our lives will not be the same without him. Leaving behind to mourn his passing are his loving family, wife of 37 years Bonnie, his daughter Melanie (Mike), son Keith (Bozena), his pack Fiamma, Roxy, and Humal, relatives, and many friends. Roy’s family was the centre of his life. He loved his country home and took tremendous pride in working the fields, gardening, caring for the dogs and horses, and most importantly enjoyed Sunday dinners with his family (every Sunday). He loved working with Keith doing home renovations and they talked about developing this into a business. He was well respected in the Hotel and Hospitality Industry for his honesty and integrity. Over the years he made several friendships that have stood the test of time as he kept in touch with those who were dear to him. He enjoyed poker nights with his buddies, the company of good friends, family and holidays, and playing golf with Keith. He was the ultimate horse show dad, the supportive father respectful and dedicated, no matter what we threw his way; he was always there to listen, to experience with us our joys, our sorrows, our fears, our adventures. He didn’t have much time to work on his own Bucket List, but he was fortunate enough to make a good start. He did get his Harley and had rides planned with Mike, he wanted to go to hockey games with Keith, he had the next family vacation to Mexico all set to go, and was so looking forward to Italy with Bonnie next year. We love you Dad, you will be forever in our hearts, in our minds, and cherished in our memories until the day we finally meet again.
A service will be held on Sunday, November 7th, 2010 at 2:00pm at the Ocean View Funeral Home, 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
