Mrs Pui Ling (Lois) HO (née TAM Pui Ling) passed away at Vancouver General Hospital on October 4, 2014 after an unexpected stroke at home. She bore a decades-long illness with great strength and courage. In spite of immense pain, she still cared deeply for and constantly thought about the well-being of family and friends in Hong Kong (her birthplace and base of education), Harrington (where she taught), Winnipeg, Seattle and Vancouver (places where she lived).
She was the beloved daughter of TAM Chi (Hong Kong businessman) and TAM Yuet Ming (née AU Yuet Ming, an extraordinary mother) who both predeceased her.
She is survived by her caring husband of over 47 years, HO Chi Keung (Raymond) and her grateful daughter, HO King (Iris). She leaves behind four devoted siblings: TAM Man Sai [Benjamin, and his wife, HO Kam Yung (Laura)], TAM Man Keung [Edward, and his wife, FUNG Kam Wah (Connie)], LEE Fai Ling [Flavia, née TAM Fai Ling, and her husband, LEE Lik Fu (Robert)], and TAM Man Lai [Lance, and his wife, CHAN Siu Kum (Molly)]. She would have been touched to know that her in-laws, nieces and nephews from both sides of the family, extended family and friends attended the funeral, provided invaluable support and sent compassionate cards and messages of condolence.
She attended: Pooi To Middle School of Hong Kong (Class of 1957) and The Chinese University of Hong Kong, New Asia College [where she received a Bachelor of Arts (Chinese Literature) in 1962]. After completing Sir Robert Black Training College in Kowloon, she taught at Chu Yan Primary School. After immigrating to Canada in 1967, she taught at Harrington Elementary in Quebec.
We are blessed that she touched our lives so deeply. We sincerely thank her for her sacrifice in taking care of both of her families in Hong Kong and in Canada. We remember her generosity. We are glad that she has found peace and is suffering no more pain.
Arrangements under the direction of Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Burnaby, BC.
