Peggy Doreen Smallwood, age 75, was born in 1947 in the seaside town of Burin Bay Arm, Newfoundland. After completing her nursing program in St. John’s, she moved to British Columbia where she met husband Malcolm and they grew their family together in Burnaby, BC.
To know Peggy was to feel the most selfless and honest kindness that exists. Peggy was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandma and dear friend to many. She will be deeply missed by husband of 45 years Malcolm, children Geoffrey, Rob (Melissa), grandchildren Joey and James, sister Jean Roberts, Sister in-law Madeline Broydell and Sister in-law Valerie Hollett.
Peggy was predeceased by her parents, Ethel and Edgar Broydell, sister and brother in-law Betty and Clarence Hollett, brother Edgar Broydell and brother in-law Louis Roberts.
To honor Peggy’s memory, a church service will be held on Friday August 19th at 10:30 AM at St. Timothy’s Church in Burnaby at 4550 Kitchener St. The church service will be directly followed by a celebration of Peggy’s life at the Burnaby Mountain Golf Course Clubhouse at 7600 Halifax St., Burnaby. We invite anyone who knew Peggy to attend either or both ceremonies to remember her wonderful life. We ask attendees to wear bright colours to represent the warmth and love she gave to us all.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.bellburnaby.com for the SMALLWOOD family.
